Dental Crowns and Bridges in Malaysia — What They Cost and How to Choose
A clear guide for patients weighing their options for damaged or missing teeth.
What This Guide Is For
If your dentist has recommended a crown or a bridge — or if you are trying to understand whether one of these is the right solution — this guide gives you the honest picture on costs, materials, and the questions worth asking before you commit.
Crowns and Bridges — A Brief Orientation
A dental crown is a cap placed over a damaged, weakened, or root-canal treated tooth to restore its shape, strength, and appearance. It covers the entire visible portion of the tooth above the gumline.
A dental bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring an artificial tooth between two crowns placed on the adjacent teeth. A standard three-unit bridge involves two crowns and one replacement tooth — all fused together as one unit.
What Does a Dental Crown Cost in Malaysia?
A crown price typically covers the crown fabrication and fitting. It may or may not include the preparatory appointment, temporary crown, and follow-up visits. If a root canal treatment is required before crown placement, that is a separate cost. Always ask for a complete treatment plan with all steps and costs listed before you begin.
| Material | Typical Cost Per Crown | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM) | RM 800 – RM 1,200 | Back teeth, budget-conscious patients |
| All-Ceramic / E-max | RM 1,200 – RM 2,000 | Front teeth, high aesthetic priority |
| Zirconia | RM 1,500 – RM 2,500 | Front and back teeth, strength and aesthetics combined |
| Full Metal (Gold alloy) | RM 800 – RM 1,500 | Heavily loaded back teeth, longevity priority |
What Does a Dental Bridge Cost in Malaysia?
| Material | Cost Per Unit | Three-Unit Bridge (Approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| PFM | RM 800 – RM 1,500 | RM 2,400 – RM 4,500 |
| All-Ceramic | RM 1,500 – RM 2,500 | RM 4,500 – RM 7,500 |
| Zirconia | RM 2,000 – RM 3,000 | RM 6,000 – RM 9,000 |
Choosing the Right Material
For back teeth: Strength is the priority. Zirconia and PFM are most commonly recommended. Full metal crowns remain the most durable option for heavily loaded positions.
For front teeth: Aesthetics are the primary consideration. All-ceramic and E-max options offer the most natural translucency. Zirconia can also be used for front teeth with excellent results.
If you grind your teeth: This changes the material recommendation significantly. Your dentist needs to know.

Questions to Ask Before You Commit
• Which material do you recommend for my specific tooth position — and why?
• Is a root canal required before the crown, and is that included in this quote?
• What is the lifespan I should expect from this crown or bridge?
• Does this price include temporary restoration, fitting appointments, and follow-up?
• If I am replacing a missing tooth — am I a candidate for an implant?
